Coinshift accounts are multi-sig, meaning they can have more than one Signer. Safe Signers have the flexibility to choose any of the compatible wallets for logging in and signing transactions.
For instance, if an account has 3 Signers, each Signer has the option to either directly use hardware devices like Ledger or Trezor, opt for Ledger via Metamask, or simply use Metamask.
Hot wallets, such as Metamask, XDEFI Wallet, WalletConnect, and Coinbase Wallet, offer speed, convenience, and accessibility via web browsers or mobile apps. However, their online nature makes them susceptible to security threats, including hacking and malware. Additionally, the storage of private keys on third-party servers by some hot wallets may pose security risks.
Conversely, Ledger and Trezor are classified as cold wallets or hardware wallets. These devices store private keys offline, ensuring enhanced security by giving users complete control. However, this comes at the cost of convenience, as transactions may be slower and may require additional steps for completion. Refer to subsequent articles to learn about hardware wallet support in Coinshift.
Through WalletConnect, users can seamlessly access the Coinshift application using over 100 compatible wallets, including Trust Wallet and Rainbow Wallet. WalletConnect ensures an encrypted connection between devices and enhances accessibility by eliminating the need for multiple browser extensions or mobile apps for fund transfers.
